Xochimilco

Did you know that Mexico City is essentially built on top of a lake?  Xochimilco is a district within Mexico City known for its historic canals and chinampas, a farming system developed by the Aztecs.  This extensive lake and canal system connected Aztec settlements in the Valley of Mexico. Today, these canals are full of trajineras - colorful, flat-bottom boats powered by someone using a long pole to propel forward (gondola-style).  Come join us for a boat cruise along the canal where we'll experience all that Xochimilco has to offer including vendors cooking up local food, bartenders making drinks, and mariachi bands serenading as they float past.

Shuttles will be provided to transport us 45 minutes out of the city to the launch point.  From there, we will be on the boats for about 2 hours. Each boat will seat roughly 15 people. You’ll be sitting in a chair on the boat, (hopefully) won’t be doing any swimming, and will not be wearing a life jacket for this slow booze cruise.

Of note, the bathrooms available at the docks are very primitive (we said this was an adventure!) so we will be bringing toilet paper and hand sanitizer for everyone :)

LUCHA LIBRE

Lucha Libre isn’t merely a sport or form of entertainment; it’s a cultural practice steeped in tradition, storytelling, and symbolism. It’s a world where wrestlers are both athletes and performers, where the line between reality and spectacle blurs, and where courage, skill, and creativity shine. The high-flying acrobatics and calculated risks performed by aerial wrestlers epitomize the spirit of Lucha Libre—where every match is a testament to the daring, dedication, and valor of those who step into the ring. In this world, a wrestler is, in essence, a “potential daredevil,” where one wrong move or unfortunate fall could have grave consequences.

Come join us for a night of culture and entertainment.  We will meet our tour guide outside of the Museum of Tequila, where we will be given a brief oral history of the sport, an introduction to the rules of the sport, as well as some vital chants to memorize and scream throughout the match.

Beers are available for purchase at the venue.  We would recommend this event for kids 12 and up.
